“Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” ― Roald Dahl

I was very excited to read Blood Moon because it was about my favorite subject: vampires! After my last book, I needed something fun and sexy. Blood Moon delivered on all fronts! It was fast paced, fun and sexy. Yes, I used those words before, but it was. Enjoyed the book so much I could have read on.
The story is about childhood friends Zack and Noah. The boys meet on a summer vacation at an upstate lake, when they are 5, and become inseparable. When I was a kid, I too went upstate to spend my summers. I never met a vampire but hey, the fantasy is nice. This brought back fond memories for me and made me enjoy the book so much more. Every year they would spend their summers together. The friendship turns into love and when they are both 17, they share their first kiss. Everything is fine until the next day when Noah rejects Zack with a flimsy excuse. Zack’s devastation is palpable.
A year later Zack is back at the lake with his family. Noah’s “ghost” is always in his head. Every guy he meets is measured against Noah and no guy measures up. Noah has never stopped thinking about and loving Zack. They see each other again, and it’s as if no time has passed. Their mutual feelings are still there. Noah declares his love for Zack. He apologizes for his stupidity. Zack forgives but doesn’t forget, because something is not right about this situation.
Here is where the story gets interesting. Noah has always been a bit coy about what his family did. And his excuse to leave Zack was the he had to go into the family “business”. After their reunion, Zack notices that Noah is acting a bit weird and that the only time they meet up is at night. Alarm bells go off in Zack’s head. Zack has a very vivid imagination! The truth finally comes out that Noah is a vampire! A very sexy vampire. This is not the only bombshell. Zack’s relatives are hunters who track down supernatural beings. There are other plot twists which I’m not going to divulge. But they are pretty good and entertaining. Well, maybe one: Noah turns Zack into a vampire. After Zack’s turning, he develops a unique affinity for women! It was hysterical. And I have to admit, a little bit of a turn on!
Let’s talk about Noah and Zack’s chemistry. It was smoking!!! They were absolutely perfect together. I loved the way their relationship evolved from childhood into adulthood. Noah being turned into a vampire brought another dimension to their relationship. Yes the kissing was hot, the sex was hot and the biting was even hotter. I love vamps. I have that T-shirt!
A quick mention of the supporting cast. They were very well written and added to the story. The writing was top notch. No awkward pauses in the story. I think the most important part of any story is when it flows without stop and starts. If you enjoy vampires, you have to give this book a read!
