Review: After visiting his sick father, Joe Lowther is at home on the ranch when he sees a wolf sniffing around the sheep. When he shoots the wolf, he finds himself drawn into a world he never even dreamed was out there. The wolf he shot not only turns into a man, but he heals up quickly and then introduces himself as Callum Pope, Omega werewolf on the run.
It turns out that the local sheriff is a distant relative to Callum, so Joe allows the man to stay at his place to heal up. This is when Cal fills Joe in on the danger that is hot on his heels, and tries to leave. For some reason Joe realizes that he doesn’t want Cal to leave, trouble or not.
The longer Cal stays with Joe, the closer they get, and soon Joe realizes he doesn’t want Cal to leave now, or ever. Convincing Cal to stay, however, will be an uphill battle. As the danger draws closer, Joe calls on an old friend to give him some back up, and they all realize this danger is bigger than they ever thought.
Sue Brown has the beginnings of a great series here. I like her take on the whole werewolf universe she created. There are Alphas and Omegas, mate bonds, hunters, dirty politicians, and some super hot mercenary type guys.
Ms. Brown definitely set us up for more books, and I, for one, can’t wait to see what’s in store for everyone in the next books. The only warning I will give on this book is that it does end with a fairly big cliff hanger. My hope is that the books will come out close together because I have been drawn in completely.
