Blurb: Sloane loves a good mystery. He grew up as the son of two psychiatrists, so he finds most people tediously easy to figure out. He finds his way to Pennsylvania State University, longing for a rural experience, and ends up being lured into joining a frat by Micah Springfield, the hippest guy on campus.
Nothing in Sloane’s classes is as intriguing as Hank Springfield, Micah’s brother and fellow frat house member. Hank looks like a tough guy—big muscles, tatts, and a beard—but his eyes are soft and sweet. He acts dumb, but he’s a philosophy major. He’s presumably straight, but then why does Sloane feel such crazy chemistry whenever Hank is around? And why does Hank hate Sloane so much?
When Sloane ends up stuck on campus over Christmas, Micah invites him to spend the holidays at their family farm in Amish country. It’s a chance to experience a true Americana Christmas–and further investigate the mystery that is Hank Springfield. Can Sloane unlock the secrets of this family and unwrap the heart hidden inside the beefcake?
Review: First off, I want to say how much I absolutely love the cover for Unwrapping Hank. Secondly, as far as I’m concerned Eli Easton has written another winner!
When Sloane finally meets the only person to vote against him joining the frat house, the guy turns out to be a bit of an enigma, but Sloan finds himself attracted to Hank, the big, straight guy with all the tattoos, anyway. What’s cute is when Sloane starts his list to solve the mystery of Hank, figuring once he’s got Hank pegged, this inexplicable attraction will fade away. Ha!
At the beginning the two are anything but friendly towards each other, and when Hank’s brother Micah orders them to put the annual frat Christmas party together, Sloan and Hank are far from happy with the prospect of spending time together. The fun begins for the reader as the two start to play pranks on each other (warning: don’t eat the cereal at this particular frat house). But in spite of everything, Sloan and Hank do manage to put together a party that even I would have loved to attend.
Damn, this was a fun read, especially when Sloan gets ditched by his own parents and ends up spending Christmas with Micah and Hank’s family. One could tell that Hank was fighting with himself, trying to decide just how straight he really is when it comes to Sloan. One highlight of the story is the barn scene. I loved it and sure as heck didn’t guess how that one would play out, what with Hank being such a tough guy. ~sighs~
Unwrapping Hank is a strong 5 Star rating and a highly recommend holiday read, especially if you enjoyed this author’s Blame It On the Mistletoe.
