A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2014 Advent Calendar package “Celebrate!”.
Review: This is a very short story that is part of Dreamspinner Press’s “Celebrate!” Advent Calendar package. While King of Me has a ton of potential, with a new shifter mythology and world building, the execution is just not there due to the length of the story.
I did like the elements of this tale, and the characters were decent and added to the storyline. The relationship between Anton and Sean is sweet and shows that it has a lot of potential for a larger story. It’s just hard to connect when it feels like you’re missing a lot of plot. This reads more like it should be a sequel or add-on novella to an existing series.
I would absolutely love to see/read a full novel in the world this story is set. I’m not sure if the author has any plans to explore that avenue, but a full taste of the world this is set in would be great.
As always, I suggest as a reader that you form your own opinion of the story as this is just my opinion. Check this out if you’re looking for a short urban fantasy/paranormal holiday story.
