Review: Let me begin with strongly recommending reading Fireline (Heat & Flashover) by Tory Temple and Bareback by Chris Owen before reading Never Too Early: The Beginning. This is not a standalone story and will be more enjoyable if one becomes familiar with the characters involved.
Bareback and Fireline were among the first books I read the year I became addicted to M/M romance, so when I saw that Tory and Chris had collaborated to bring back four characters that I fell in love with years ago, I knew I just had to have this book!
Chance and Tucker are on vacation in Kentucky, where they come across two very attractive cowboys, Jake and Tor, at the horse races. Noticing that these two are a couple, they strike up a conversation with them. When Tucker wins a horse race, he invites Jake and Tor to join him and Chance for a drink to celebrate his win. Both Jake and Tor quickly make their excuses and leave (reading Bareback will give you the clue as to the why).
As fate would have it, the four men meet up again the next day at a restaurant where Chance and Tucker are having dinner. This time the conversation turns around, being that Jake and Tor have had “the talk” and wouldn’t mind being friends with another gay couple that seem to be pretty stable. Tor and Tucker exchange phone numbers and plan to keep in touch with each other when they return home.
I really enjoyed reading Never Too Early: The Beginning, but there is a warning here: I can tell there’s going to be a sequel since the ending left me wanting more! Darn it! Without revealing too much, someone feels insecure about their relationship, someone feels an attraction towards one of the other men in the group, and someone gets seriously hurt in an accident.
My oh my, the plot thickens…
