Cheers, everyone, and welcome to the first of our Best of 2015 Giveaways! We’ve put together a list of our Top 5 favorite books this year, in no particular order (and some of us also had an honorable mention because it’s just that hard to narrow things down), and we’d not only like to share our faves with you but also would love to give you a chance to win an e-copy of one title from each of our lists. You can enter for the chance to win via the Rafflecopter widget below.
Good luck!
And now, here they are, Carrie’s and Jennifer’s Best of 2015!
Carrie’s Top 5:
- Feat of Clay by Susan Mac Nicol:
Let me start by saying I love Susan Mac Nicol, and I have read and recommended all the books in the Men of London series. These books are so well written, and I didn’t think she could do better than Suit Yourself, book three, but yeah, she proved me wrong and I am so glad she did.
- Make Me Soar by K.C. Wells:
All of the Collars and Cuffs books are excellent, and this one is no exception. You do not have to read them in order, though it helps, as the characters overlap, but each story can stand on its own. Buy it. Read it. You will love it.
- Lessons for Sleeping Dogs by Charlie Cochrane
If you like period appropriate verbiage and staging, REALLY GOOD mysteries, and colorful and witty characters, then this series is for you. You do not have to read these mysteries in order, just pick one up – it will not disappoint – and then you will go back for more!
- Three’s Company by N.R. Walker
Be aware this is a rework of a book that came out originally about three years ago. It’s been revised, given it a new cover, and the story has been expanded somewhat from the original. I really liked the expanded parts of the story, as we get to see into the lives of these men a little more clearly, and it makes the book into more of a romance HEA than just a ménage storyline. I would recommend getting the expanded version. This is just one of those books that once you start reading you become invested in these characters and don’t want to put it down until the very end. That N.R. Walker has gone back and given us more of these men and their lives – BONUS!
- In-Decision by Sue Brown
In-Decision is part of a series of books brought about by a collaboration between Lisa Worrall and Sue Brown. So what do you get when you combine two incredible authors? An incredible series. I love these books. They are light, they are easy to read, they are heartwarming, and each of these authors has a true talent for not only character development but plot and timing.
Honorable Mention: Trowchester Blues by Alex Beecroft
Jennifer’s Top 5:
- Gyrfalcon by Anna Butler
This book is not a light read. It’s heavy. There is a lot of military and scientific jargon because of the setting, but honestly, don’t let that throw you off. For me, it just sucked me into the story even more. I was thoroughly engrossed in the lives of the characters and enjoyed reading about the military operations as they unfolded. I loved reading about the various ships, from the tiny Mosquito to the massive dreadnought, and all their inner workings.
- The Twilight Gods by Hayden Thorne
While beautiful, I thought the ending was heartbreaking. The choices Norris must make are difficult, and while perfect for the nineteenth century, sadly they are choices people still feel they must make today. It broke my heart and I sobbed through the last few pages. It was perfectly bittersweet.
- Yogi and the Bear by Nix Knox
God, I loved this book. There was so much to love about it, I’m trying to remember it all. I highlighted a lot as I read, to keep track and then tell everyone how amazing this was… Basically, you should read it for yourself.
- The Captain’s Pet by Samantha Cayto
There are some tense moments at the end of the book that involve a mutiny and rebellion, but it was awesome, and I don’t want to give any of that way. Just know that I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next in the series. If non-con and dub-con doesn’t bother you too much, I recommend checking this one out.
- Down by Ally Blue
Whether you’re a fan of horror or not, I highly recommend you checking this book out. If I can manage to do it even with all of my fears, so can you! I just might have hid under the covers more than the typical person…and, maybe I got nervous every time a shadow twitched from the car lights outside, but whatever. I can always sleep next week or something.
- Honorable Mention: Chaos Station by Jenn Burke and Kelly Jensen

Great choices… For me, this has been a great reading year, with a lot of amazing books: The Society of Gentlemen series by KJ Charles, Halfmoon Chambers and Marty and the Pilot by Harper Fox, Strange is the Night by Justine Sebastian, The Devil Lancer by Astrid Amara, Humbug by Joanna Chambers, Hoarfrost by Jordan L. Hawk… And so many other amazing books!!! ;)
I recently enjoyed Fish Stick Fridays by Rhys Ford, and earlier this year In The Middle of somewhere by Roan Parrish. So many good things came out, but these two were memorable for me. Thanks for the giveaway!
My absolute favorite of the year was The Lightning-Struck Heart by TJ Klune. Other great reads this year were Carry the Ocean by Heidi Cullinan, Knight of Ocean Avenue by Tara Lain, and Heat Trap by JL Merrow.
I have been reading the Cut & Run series, slowly working my way through it because I know it’s done and I don’t want it to be :)
But there is a new Sidewinder book out, so you can still follow some of the characters – it just won’t center on Ty and Zane anymore (I know, that is a sad thing, but we will still get to see them occasionally! It’s better than nothing!)
I have read so many great books this year. A few of my favorites are: A Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop, Golden Son by Pierce Brown, Cynthia Luhrs’ books, Lisa Kessler’s books, and so many more.
It’s always interesting to see others’ favorites! Thanks!
Accidentally published before I listed some favorites! There were so many good books this year! Loved Lyn Gala’s Without a Net, Jackie Keswick’s Job Hunt, Mary Calmes’ Fit to be Tied, Rhys Ford’s Sloe Ride, and Kim Dare’s Axel’s Pup. I’m sure there are more that I’m forgetting right now, but those are some that I go back to again and again.
I’ve read so many great books this year but some of my favorites were 321 by JA Huss, Part & Parcel by Abigail Roux and Rise & Fall by Charlie Cochet.
Straight Guys series by Alessandra Hazard, Home and Away by Samantha Wayland, The High King’s Golden Tongue by Megan Derr, The Lightning Struck Heart by T.J. Klune, After School Activities by Dirk Hunter, Sacrati by Kate Sherwood, Victim of Love by Darien Cox.
Thanks for your lists! I’ve read so many wonderful books this year. Maelstrom by Jordan L Hawk, A Fashionable Indulgence by KJ Charles, Stygian by Santino Hall, Sloe Ride by Rhys Ford and Lonely Hearts by Heidi Cullinan are a few favorites.
There were so many great releases in 2015 so it’s really hard not to mention everyone I really really liked. So I’m just going to pick the first three that comes to mind. Those are: Forging the Future by Mary Calmes, A Restored Man by Jaime Reese, and All I Believe by Alexa Land.
Some of my favorite stories this year, in no particular order, would be Alexis Hall’s Liberty & Other Stories and For Real, John T. Fuller & Richard Rider’s The Trojan Project, Cecil Wilde’s A Boy Called Cin, Megan Derr’s The Harem Master, Kim Dare’s Axel’s Pup, Laura Stone’s Bitter Springs, and Heidi Cullinan’s Carry the Ocean, as well Aleksandr Voinov’s Skybound and Incursion and Harper Fox’s Scrap Metal in audio.
So many awesome books this year. My Favorites so far are The Gods Games by Quil Carter and Sutphin Boulevard by Santino Hassell :-)
The Tyack and Frayne Books by Harper Fox, Tigers on the Run by Sean Kennedy, Cronin’s Key books by NR Walker, continuing series of Whyborne and Griffin by Jordan L Hawk, pretty much anything by KJ Charles.
I’m sure there were lots of others I could mention!
I loved Fit to Be Tied by Mary Calmes and Fish Stick Fridays by Rhys Ford. Both books immediately went to my love-to-reread shelf.
Just a few of my favourites, Kim Fielding – Rattlesnake, Heidi Cullinan – Carry the Ocean, Keira Andrews – Valor on the Move, Leta Blake – Vespertine…
