Hello! I’m KC Burn, and I’m here to talk about Tartan Candy, my new novel featuring a kilted ex-porn star and a blue collar worker, set in Orlando.
Who doesn’t love a kilt? More specifically, who doesn’t love a hot guy in a kilt? I know I’m susceptible. One time, back in my clubbing days, a group of guys wearing kilts showed up. Since it was the same weekend as a nearby Scottish festival, I assumed they’d been there. Until they started chatting up me & my friends. Turns out they were actual Scottish footballers. We were dying. Of course, since I was already dating the man who’d become my hubby, I was only window shopping, but OMG, they were seriously hot.
Obviously, it was only a matter of time before I wrote a book featuring a kilt-wearing hottie. In Tartan Candy, Raven is an ex-porn star whose popularity arose partly from his love of kilts (and partly from his flexibility). Raven’s a Floridian native, so his look isn’t typically Highlander, and he adds a punk/goth flair. And if you knew the sorts of clubs I frequented back in the day, this wouldn’t surprise you one bit. I love sneaking guyliner on some of my characters, because it’s a look I just adore.
So tell me… does a man in a kilt do it for you? Is there a certain look or style for a guy that will make you melt?

Blurb: Finlay McIntyre (aka Raven) is a successful adult film star with a penchant for kilts, until an accident cuts short his stardom and leaves him with reduced sex appeal, lowered self-esteem, and no job. He knew his porn career wouldn’t last forever, but he wasn’t prepared for retirement at twenty-eight. While trying to figure out the rest of his life, Raven attends a high school reunion. That’s when a malfunctioning AC unit in his hotel room changes everything.
Caleb Sanderson, an entrepreneur with his own HVAC business, has no idea what to expect when he steps into Raven’s hotel room to fix his AC unit. They’re attracted to each other, but Caleb, closeted, can’t afford a gay relationship, not with his mom pressuring him to produce grandchildren. If he wants to keep Raven—who no closet could hold—he’ll need to tell his family the truth. But Raven has a few secrets of his own. He refuses to reveal his porn past to Caleb, a past that might be the final obstacle to Caleb and Raven having any kind of relationship.

About KC: KC Burn has been writing for as long as she can remember and is a sucker for happy endings (of all kinds). After moving from Toronto to Florida for her husband to take a dream job, she discovered a love of gay romance and fulfilled a dream of her own—getting published. After a few years of editing web content by day, and neglecting her supportive, understanding hubby and needy cat at night to write stories about men loving men, she was uprooted yet again and now resides in California. Writing is always fun and rewarding, but writing about her guys is the most fun she’s had in a long time, and she hopes you’ll enjoy them as much as she does.

I have a soft spot for man with beards :-) also I am more into Bears (like my husband). Kilts are not really my thing.

Hi Silke – I too have a bear-like hubby! And he’s worn a kilt on occasion, so I get both :)

Who doesn’t like a man in a kilt? Ever since I watched the film The Highlander (1986) with Christopher Lamber playing Connor MacLeod I’ve had a soft spot for men in kilts… And Scotland. I want to go there one day!
the book sounds great. It’s already in my TBR list

My 12 year old told me I was making him uncomfortable while watching Highlander the other day. Actually what he said was, “oh gross mom, no one wants to know how hot you think that guy is!” To which I replied, “but come on! That kilt!” To which he said “yeah, still gross.”

I love a man in a kilt. I also love guy liner and stories of strong “manly” men in pretty underthings.

Kilts & guy liner go great together, don’t they? I’ve got plans for a sexy man in some lacy underthings… soon ;)

I love the description of Raven. :-) I love a man in a kilt. I typically love a strong, muscular man in a kilt, but I’ve seen some lean men look fantastic in them as well.

I haven’t really seen many men in kilts. They do have an appeal though. I always liked seeing a guy in business casual wear.

I love a guy in blue jeans. I don’t mind if they have a cowboy hat as well. But yeah, I just love a guy in jeans.

I do like dudes in kilts, I like dudes that rock the goth (especially corporate goth), and in all honesty I like the willowy type of dudes. If they’re rocking glasses (not sunglasses) then it’s a plus for me.
