We’re so pleased to welcome authors Kelly Wyre and AF Henley to TNA today, on the tour for their new collaboration, Breaker: Volume One. Enjoy their guest post and the short teaser they’ve brought along to share with you. And, don’t forget to check out their Rafflecopter giveaway below.
Welcome, AF and Kelly!
Welcome to the Breaker (Exile, Volume 1) Blog Tour and Giveaway! We’re both super excited about this new release and thrilled to be able to share it with you. Throughout this tour, we’re going to be introducing many of the characters within, and associated with, Exile’s bizarre shores, as well as introducing Exile itself. Then we’re going to top that off with a quick little teaser.
However, before we get into any of that we wanted to remind you that we’ve got a couple of awesome giveaways going along with the tour so be sure to read through to the end to find out how you could win either a Silver-plated Starfish Anklet (just by leaving a single comment!), or the grand prize of a signed, print copy of Breaker, a coordinates bracelet with the Believe. Seek. Prove. reminder so you can always find your way back to the island of Exile, and a $20 gift certificate to the Less Than Three Press book market.
The Character Discussion
Kelly Wyre: And now for one of my favorite characters. The woman of so many names!
AF Henley: What was it Eddie called her? Zumhella, Moonella?
KW: Zephyrwella, Hellazumba… But methinks her name is… ZUNELLA!
AFH: She’s a little bit scary this one.
KW: Just ‘cause she can make you obey her every thought and desire and wields instruments of human inspection? Dunno why’d that be scary…
AFH: This was one of your original characters, wasn’t it?
KW: She’s like the great-great-great granddaughter of that Russian guy who liked to kill people. But seriously, she’s key to the island mechanics. She runs the Med.
AFH: Because she’s not just scary, she’s also brilliant. And, if nobody’s watching, kind of sweet.
The Teaser
“Yes, Mr. Florence?” she said without looking up from the pages of text in front of her.
Zunella! Eddie startled so badly that he damn near cleared the counter he was propped against. With a wince Eddie grabbed for the tiny bottles, tubes, and assorted folders that threatened to go flying.
When everything was more or less back the way it was, Eddie turned to Zunella with a nervous smile. She still wasn’t looking at him.
“My tour guide went that-a-way,” Eddie said, pointing.
“Mm.”
“You seem busy.” He took a step in her direction. “But I guess you always are. There must be a lot to do. With all these people and all their crazy little—”
“We prefer not to use that word, Mr. Florence.”
“Of course!” Eddie nodded. “Intricate. Challenging. You know, back home, we weren’t supposed to say that either. Well, we weren’t supposed to say a lot of things back home. Civil rectitude and all, right? You could think that a person was crazier than Deadpool at a Weapon X reunion, but God forbid—”
“What exactly is a dead pool?” Zunella finally gave Eddie a hard look and rested an odd stylus down on the desk with exaggerated caution. The stylus was humming, more so now that it lay on a solid surface, and one end of it was lit up. Eddie had no idea what it was, what it did, or why it seemed so perturbed not to be doing it anymore.
“Absolutely nothing.” Eddie shook his head, chuckling softly. “You know, if I had my way? Like, if I could do anything I wanted here? I’d open up a museum of comic books. Nothing but comics and graphic novels. Okay, maybe some Commu-links that played the old superhero cartoons. I don’t know how we’d get them. But I have to imagine that someone would—”
“For whatever reason you feel I’m the one to whom you should broach this idea, allow me to cease this discussion by saying that’s an excellent idea, Mr. Florence.” She reached for the stylus. “Enjoy your tour.”
“Wait.” Eddie took two quick steps closer. Zunella paused impatiently. “There’s actually a thing. You know, that I uh, need to ask you. Someone, anyway. And you seem pretty smart…” He left his thought to trail while he searched for a way to start.
Zunella sat back in her chair. “If you’re looking for confirmation, then yes, I am rather intelligent. What is it, Mr. Florence? This is a very busy spot on Exile.”

About Breaker
In the wake of several near-cataclysmic events, humanity created the Cure, a DNA-altering antidote to death by disease and old age. But all cures come with side effects: a small percentage of the population develops a wide range of powers, some of which are lethal to others, and some which are lethal to the wielder.
These people are called the Estranged, hunted and shunned, safe only on the Island of Exile. It is here that Kaeva and Eddie meet—and where they set a prophecy in motion, quite possibly sealing their own demise, and even the end of Exile.
Genre: Gay, Urban Fantasy
Notes: contains some explicit content and includes thoughts and discussions of past and potential suicide

Wow, no one has ever asked my opinion on whether or not I’m smart before. They usually just make up their minds. xD Not sure if it’s a good thing Eddie asked or a bad thing though. :D (yes I know he didn’t actually ask, he just seems like a guy you should tease)
Very much like her. Admittedly that’s a bit pre-mature as I’ve only seen a few sentences from her so far. But so often people just make a character gruff and no-nonsense and they are there for nothing but conflict. She already comes across as so much more with so very little dialog. So I’m gonna call it, I like her.
Thank you! :D
She was a lot of fun to write. Although, I’m not sure she ends up endearing herself to Eddie, though. XD
Thank you again for stopping in to read and comment. It’s always appreciated. <3
A fellow Marvel fan, eh? chuckles
I can feel the terror felt by Eddie. It was coursing through him. Zunella must have always received such reaction from newcomers in the island. It’s actually confounding since medical people should have this so-called calming vibe, right? Let’s say she’s like an army medical personnel. Someone who’s in that position is supposed to have this air of authority & power since soldiers can be a bit pain in you-know-where when they’re wounded or injured (at least based on the novels I’ve read)- and at the same time have the mentioned calming vibe. However, Zunella is a completely different case. She might have been through so much that she forgets how to act around people or maybe she’s just like that on people she doesn’t know. Zunella intriguede very much. taps chin
Thanks for coming by to TNA, Kel & Henley! <3
Eddie loves all things comic, especially Deadpool. (Or maybe that’s just me. XD)
Glad you’re enjoying, thank you so much! It’s been awesome to read your comments and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy as we go forward. <3

Thank you so much! :D
laughs The name giving is hilarius! 😄 Have you guys considered Zunzilla?
Anyways, she is absolutely the type one is trying to get comfortable with, easing tension through humour, getting to know that person better but in the end ended up with ”Yes, ma’am!”, ”Of course, ma’am!”, ”Your wish is my command, ma’am!”, ”It shall happen as you say, ma’am!”
Thank you! :D
Although I can’t really take credit for it. (I’ll try to though, obviously! XD)
Clearly Zunella is southern. Hmmm… how did THAT happen?
:P
