Blurb: Rob runs to Crooked Tree determined to find a safe place for his nephews. A family for them is the final thing on his list, and then he can vanish completely. Falling for a local paramedic along the way is a disaster in Rob’s otherwise perfect plans.
Paramedic Aaron, the middle of five brothers, would like someone to love. A great believer in fate he is convinced though, that one day he’ll find someone. He just never thought it would be a man in so much pain, or that children would be part of the package.
Rob is ready to leave. Aaron wants him to stay. Their love has an expiry date, and it’s tearing them apart. Can they find a way to save what they have?
The Final book in the Montana Series
Review: Rob Brady is a man without a place to call home. He’s making plans not to be around much longer, due to a bullet lodged in his spine. He thought he was well prepared to move on—until his sister left two young boys behind when she died. Now Rob is headed to Crooked Tree Ranch to face Justin (the man he was supposed to kill) to find a home for his two nephews, Bran and Toby. Rob has taken time to make a list of all things crucial to the boys’ lives. And, he also starts looking at the loving couples of Crooked Tree. Even though he and Justin don’t see eye-to-eye, Justin and Sam have been his main choice to be a real family for the boys.
Aaron Carter, former military and now EMT, meets Rob during a serious accident. Rob has inserted himself in a dangerous situation while trying to rescue a severely injured passenger. And now there’s something about this stranger that Aaron can’t get out of his system, but Rob is consumed with Bran and Toby and finding their ideal parents and a place for them to grow up. He doesn’t have time for Aaron, so Aaron makes the first move, and while Rob tries to put distance between himself and Aaron, as well as Bran and Toby, he finds he has to make one of the hardest decisions of his life.
RJ Scott had me on the edge with worry for Rob when it came to his personal ordeal. Both Rob and Aaron were given the alpha label, but I didn’t really see Rob that way. Their being ex-military, and Rob being an assassin, they are definitely both stubborn and hard-headed, but Rob’s feelings towards his nephews softened him, and he was determined to make sure they had a happy life. Aaron was a stand-up character. He took control of many of Rob’s issues, especially his health, and again Rob seems to let go and let Aaron take the lead.
The Montana series is just one of many entertaining RJ Scott offerings. It has mystery, danger, drama, heartbreak, humor, along with many wonderful characters who have become loving couples. As this is the final installment of the series, I would highly suggest reading all the books, if your interest is piqued by Justin, Aaron, Rob or any of the characters I’ve mentioned.
